Hull City have announced that Nigel Adkins will leave his role as manager of the Tigers, after failing to agree a new contract with the Championship side.

Adkins guided the Tigers to 13th in the Championship, in a hugely impressive spell with the club, who were even in contention to finish inside the top six at one stage of last season.

But he will depart the club when his current deal at the KCOM Stadium expires at the end of the month after failing to come to an agreement with Hull over a new deal heading into next season.

This statement certainly won't go down well with the club's supporters, many of whom would have liked to have seen the owners do everything they can to keep Adkins at Hull.

Adkins released a heartwarming statement to the club's supporters following the surprise announcement.

Plenty of Hull supporters took to social media to wish Adkins the best in his future endeavours.
