Marcelo Bielsa has revealed that Gaetano Berardi is struggling with a knee injury, whilst Pablo Hernandez has a muscular injury, with the duo set for a spell on the sidelines.

Leeds have been dealt a number of disappointing injury updates in the last week, with Berardi and Hernandez joining the likes of Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe in the treatment room.

TEAMtalk revealed that Berardi was facing three weeks out, whilst Leeds hope to have Hernandez back following October’s international break.

Ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Millwall, Bielsa has been discussing the injuries that are stacking up against him.

The 63-year-old has provided a diagnosis of those injuries to Phil Hay at the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Interestingly, Bielsa also states that Hernandez recovered from the muscle problem that kept him out of the goalless draw with Middlesbrough, but confirmed that his new injury is in the same area:

Bielsa takes his side to the New Den on Saturday afternoon, with Leeds looking to extend their unbeaten start to the Championship season.

The Whites have picked up 14 points from their opening six fixtures of the season, winning on four occasions and drawing twice.

The Verdict

Losing this duo is a really frustrating blow for Leeds, as they’ve been excellent so far this season.

Berardi’s injury sounds less serious than the one that Hernandez has picked up, with the Spaniard’s problem seemingly one that keeps coming back.

Leeds need to get to the bottom of Hernandez’s injury and get the Spaniard right.
