Leeds United outcast Ouasim Bouy reportedly rejected a mutual termination of his contract in the summer.

The 26-year-old joined Leeds on a free transfer in August 2017 but has never featured for the senior side.

The defensive midfielder was born in Amsterdam and spent time in the Ajax academy before moving to Italian giants Juventus in January 2012.

Bouy made just one appearance for the Juventus first team, coming off the bench in a 3-0 Coppa Italia win against AS Avellino.

He signed a four-year deal when he arrived at Elland Road but is yet to feature for the senior side, having spent the majority of his time away from the club on loan, and has now become something of an outcast.

Bouy's contract is set to expire in 2021 but it appears the club were understandably keen to offload the 26-year-old in the summer as, according to Leeds Live, he was offered the chance to terminate his contract by mutual agreement.

It is understood he rejected that offer but it has been suggested he could leave the club when the transfer window opens in January.

Without Bouy, Leeds have made a strong start to the season and are third in the Championship as things stand–two points back from league leaders West Bromwich Albion.

The Verdict

Having arrived from Juventus, Bouy's time at Leeds has been a huge disappointment–for the club, the fans, and the player.

Clearly, he needs a fresh start elsewhere, so you'd imagine that the 26-year-old must not have agreed with the offer being made to him to terminate his contract.

It looks like the best move for both the club and the player is for him to depart in January–whether anyone will be interested in picking him up is another story.
