Muhamed Besic has made Championship 17 appearances for Middlesbrough since his loan move up north from Everton in January.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has impressed since his arrival at the Riverside, especially in the latter stages, which saw his new side reach the play-offs under the reign of manager Tony Pulis.

While Boro did bow out the play-offs last night at the hands of Aston Villa, Besic captivated the midfield over the two legs, breaking up play and making vital tackles throughout.

The 25-year-old midfielder has made 37 appearances for the Toffees since he signed in 2014, but was cast aside in recent times, leading to his loan move to the Yorkshire outlet.

With central midfield partner Adam Clayton out of contract this summer, it leaves space in the midfield, perfect for Muhamed Besic to fill.

The box to box midfielder may not be cut out to be a world beater, but in a lower end Premier League side or a top end Championship team, Besic has what it takes to lead a team to success.

The fight and aggression shown every minute of every game is what it takes to be a starting central midfielder in the Championship, and the Bosnian has demonstrated that since arriving at the Riverside.

Besic is bound to have interest from other clubs, but the fact he has spent half the season on loan at Middlesbrough may just put them ahead of the rest of the pack.

Muhamed Besic made his full international debut for Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2010, making him the youngest player ever to represent the country, and has gone on to play 30 times for the nation, including appearances at the 2014 World Cup.

The experience that Besic already holds, and the potential he has, would make Middlesbrough lucky to keep hold of their loanee star next season, but should try to do everything in their power to sign him permanently.
