Sunderland have recently announced that they have appointed Phil Parkinson as their new manager on a two-and-a-half year deal.

Parkinson has been out of work since he resigned from his role in charge of Bolton Wanderers, who had a number of off-the-field troubles at the time.

The 51-year-old will be keen to win promotion in his first season in charge at the Stadium of Light, which will certainly be the expectation from the club's supporters.

The Black Cats narrowly missed on achieving that last season, but they were beaten by Charlton Athletic in the League One play-off final.

So, there will be a sense of pressure on Parkinson's shoulders from the very start, and he'll be keen to take his side back into the top-six as soon as possible, after a poor run of results saw them drop out of the play-off places.

Plenty of Bolton fans took to social media to issue their thoughts on Parkinson's appointment at Sunderland.
