Many Sheffield Wednesday fans have expressed their delight at their longest serving player extending his contract at Hillsborough.
Defender Liam Palmer has been through the club’s academy system before he debuted as an 18-year-old in 2010.
The Worksop-born player has signed a three-year deal with his boyhood club and will be at the club until 2022.
The 28-year-old has appeared an impressive 224 times in total for the Owls, and has been an ever present face within the Wednesday camp over the best part of a decade.
In his time at the club, the 28-year-old has won the SWFC Player of the Year, and The Star SWFC Player of the Year award.
Palmer is a versatile defender and can play on both the right and left of defence, and his consistent performances in the EFL earned him a cap for Scotland, as he debuted in a 3-0 loss to Kazakhstan.
Plenty of Wednesday fans were delighted with the news of his contract renewal and thought it was deserved for a player that bleeds blue and white. One Twitter user asked for the club “To give Liam a medal,” while another said that “it’s important that we keep a local element to our team.”
Give Liam a medal, for putting up with all the crap over the years lol
