Luton Town were left heartbroken back in May, as their dream of a return to Sky Bet League One was ended by Blackpool in the play-off semi-final.

This year, Luton are once again going in search of promotion, with Nathan Jones’ side making a magnificent early impression during the 2017/18 League Two campaign.

James Collins and Danny Hylton are spearheading Luton’s surge for automatic promotion, scoring eight goals apiece already this season, as Jones’ side continue to play some of the best attacking football in the lower leagues.

With another promotion push on the horizon, our writers at FLW take a look at whether 2018 will be the year Luton are promoted.

This season is their best chance.

Aside from the weekend, the Hatters have been pretty impeccable and I'd expect them to be there or thereabouts for the whole campaign.

They score a great amount of goals and I think they'll be back to winning ways before too long to keep their challenge going.

Sam Rourke

Yes, I think it is.

Luton Town possess goals, goals and more goals.

With strikers James Collins and Danny Hylton in their side, they have the capability of brushing aside teams in League Two.

Nathan Jones does need to sort out the club's consistency, but if he can, Luton will be right up there.

A top side that deserve to be higher in the football pyramid.

Chris Gallagher

It has to be.

The Hatters are well placed, despite Saturday's loss and look to have the best squad in the division. Importantly, they're capable of scoring a lot of goals which is where they standout.

It's a long, hard season and there will be ups and downs but they really should make the top three.
