Derek Adams wants to bring Morecambe midfielder Yann Songo’o to Bradford City this summer, according to Alan Nixon.
Adams was appointed as Bradford boss this week, less than a week on from guiding Morecambe to a memorable promotion from League Two.
The Shrimps beat Newport County by a goal to nil at Wembley, but Adams left the club after guiding them into League One to join Bradford.
Adams will now be keen to strengthen his new squad, with Morecambe midfielder Yann Songo’o said to be on his transfer radar.
Songo’o has worked with Adams at both Plymouth and Morecambe, winning promotion with both clubs under the Scot’s tutelage.
This season, the 29-year-old scored six goals in 38 League Two games from midfield, and was a real enforcer in the middle of the park.
But with his contract set to run out at the end of the month, the midfielder could be set to reunite with Adams at Valley Parade ahead of next season.
This was always really going to be on the cards following Adams’ decision to leave Morecambe and join Bradford.
Songo’o is a player who he knows well. He was excellent for him at Plymouth and even more influential this season, acting as a real powerhouse in midfield.
Having players who he knows well and have achieved success under him before only increases the Bantams’ chances of winning promotion under Adams.
If they can supply him with the tools, he has shown that he can deliver and get the job done.
