Derby’s Wayne Rooney comes under fire amid off-pitch antics

Published

on

Former Manchester United striker and current Derby County man Wayne Rooney has come under fire from the police, after he was spotted walking with Manchester City defender Kyle Walker, as per the Daily Mail.

The United Kingdom is currently in a state of lockdown and rules state you must only leave to exercise once a day, but only on your own or with members of your household, something that the forward was clearly in breach of here.

The Daily Mail claim that Rooney was ‘told off’ by police as the neighbours were caught walking along Prestbury golf course in Cheshire with their families.

Meanwhile, on the pitch, Rooney has made quite the difference for Phillip Cocu’s Derby County since joining, providing four goals and two assists as the Rams sit middle of the pack in 12th place.

The Midlands club are still only five points adrift of a play-off spot and upon the season’s resumption, will be aiming to sneak into the top six with nine games left to play.

The verdict

This is irresponsible from Rooney, there are no excuses here.

Everyone must abide by these government guidelines, and the sooner we all do, the sooner the pandemic will come to a close.

The rules and guidelines have been put into place for a fundamental reason, to save lives.
