Derby County boss, Phillip Cocu, has stated that Cardiff 'didn't want to play' when they travelled to Pride Park on Friday night.

The Rams failed to win for the sixth consecutive game as they drew at home to Neil Warnock's Cardiff City.

Cocu has had a tough awakening in his first couple of months as Derby manager since taking over from the recently departed Frank Lampard.

The former PSV boss has won just one game since taking over, and that came on the opening day against lowly Huddersfield.

Cocu gave his take of the game, and opened up on what he thought of the way Neil Warnock's side tried to play.

Speaking to RamsTV, Cocu said: "We had to deal with a team who doesn’t really want to play.

"They are extremely direct, so we have to be physical. I told the boys after the game that I’m proud of the way we fought them and how we tried to play as much as possible to get the ball down.

"We created good chances and showed a good reaction after the Brentford game.

"I think the decisions, major decisions, decided the course of the game.

"It’s hard to take at the moment because we started the match really well and scores early."

The Verdict

Phillip Cocu isn't the first and won't be the last to say these type of comments about the way Cardiff play their football while Warnock is at the club.

It does sound a bit salty, and almost like that's the reason that they didn't win, but if Warnock's style is effective than they're going to keep on using it.

Early pressure is showing at the Rams and perhaps he needs to slightly change the way that he's playing in order to get results, instead of worrying about others.
