It has been a busy summer for Derby County boss Gary Rowett, with signings trickling into Pride Park throughout the course of the offseason.

The former Burton boss got much of his business done early, selling Tom Ince and Will Hughes to the Premier League, whilst bringing in the likes of Curtis Davies, Tom Huddlestone and Andre Wisdom to bolster his squad.

Tom Lawrence joined halfway through August, but on the final days of the window, Rowett certainly kept himself busy.

A double swoop for Sam Winnall and Maikel Kieftenbeld rounded off an excellent summer, with the pair set to slot seamlessly into the match day squad ahead of the visit of Hull City this weekend.

Winnall is a fantastic signing who will bag a lot of goals for the club, with the acquisition of Kieftenbeld could prove to be equally as important.

The Dutch midfielder joins the Rams following an impressive two year spell in the West Midlands with Birmingham, making 84 league appearances during his time at St Andrews.

A combative midfielder, the 27-year-old has the ability to take games by the scruff of the neck, and his presence in midfield will certainly win games for the Rams this season.

Rowett has plenty of options in his squad, but a midfield trio of the Dutchman, Huddlestone and Lawrence could prove potent.

With Huddlestone and Kieftenbeld sitting, marshalling the midfield for any signs of trouble, Lawrence will be given a free reign to join in the attack, and his ability to arrive into the box at exactly the right time will see the player hit double digits for goals this season.

It is hard to see a midfield pairing of Huddlestone and Kieftenbeld being torn apart, and the holding pair could form a partnership similar to the one Antonio Conte is attempting to put together at Chelsea, with N’Golo Kante sitting alongside new signings Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Derby will be solidified defensively by the player’s acquisition, but their attacking output will also prosper, with Lawrence given a license to roam.
