Derby’s Krystian Bielik sends out message after significant personal blow

Derby County midfielder Krystian Bielik has opened up for the first time since learning of his season ending injury and he has thanked coaches, teammates and fans for their support.

The former Arsenal man has been ruled out for the rest of the Championship season after suffering a serious knee injury last week in the U23 fixture against Tottenham Hotspur.

Signing for the Rams last summer, Bielik was due to make a return to first team action after serving a three match ban for getting sent off against Charlton, and the club’s idea was to get him back up to full fitness by playing against Spurs last Monday night.

However, during the game, Bielik went down injured in the 18th minute and was forced off on a stretcher in what looked like obvious discomfort.

Reports in Polish press claimed that Bielik would spend the remainder of the season on the sidelines. and that was then confirmed by Derby boss Phillip Cocu earlier this week in a press conference.

Bielik made 21 appearances in all competitions up until his injury, playing an important part in Cocu’s central midfield.

Sharing his first thoughts of the injury via his official Instagram, the Polish international revealed his unhappiness but also his determination to bounce back.

The Verdict

Absolutely gutting for the midfielder who was just settling in to the Derby side and taking on board Cocu’s playing style and ideas.

He will undoubtedly bounce back with the support of Derby’s medical staff, but Cocu will be hoping his absence is not missed too much.

Wayne Rooney can act as a replacement for the young midfielder, but Cocu will be eagerly anticipating his return next season…
