Derby County have signed Blackburn striker Leon Best on a season long loan, the official site has confirmed.
Derby have been keen to sign a striker for competition for Chris Martin, who scored 25 goals last term.
Best only scored two goals for Blackburn in a two year spell and was loaned out last January to Sheffield Wednesday. He scored five goals for the Owls in what was deemed a successful loan spell.
The 27 year old was transfer listed earlier in the summer with Rovers manager Gary Bowyer looking to trim the clubs wage bill.
On the signing of Best, Steve McClaren told the official website, “I’m extremely pleased that we have been able to sign Leon Best on loan for the season.
“He is a player with Premier League and Championship experience, knows how to score goals and he will provide a different option in our attacking armoury.”
He added: “We have been keen to add to our frontline during the summer and Leon is someone that we have discussed at length.
“I’ve spoken to the player and believe he views this loan move as a fresh start, and I can sense he is determined to make the most of the opportunity.”
Derby have also been linked with Tottenham midfielder Tom Carroll and Chelsea defender Nathan Ake in recent weeks.
