Since taking over at Derby County, Gary Rowett is already starting to show his managerial prowess to the Rams' fans.

The former Burton Albion and Birmingham boss is considered to be one of the finest young English managers in the Football League and it has been so far so good at Derby County.

After spending time as a player and then as a coach at Derby, Rowett has returned to manage the senior team and he is unbeaten so far.

After a 2-2 draw in the East Midlands derby against Nottingham Forest, Rowett has overseen two wins in his previous two matches - against QPR and high flying Fulham.

Derby are now outside contenders to achieve a play-off spot.

Rowett will already be thinking ahead to the summer and he will be using these games to run the rule over his squad.

He will undoubtedly already be eyeing up some transfer targets and here are two Premier League players who he can target when their contracts expire in the summer.

Martin Kelly

Derby County need a new right back because of Cyrus Christie's ankle problem and because Chris Baird is out of contract.

Crystal Palace defender Martin Kelly could be a good option on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old has one England cap to his name and almost 100 Premier League appearances so he'd bring good pedigree to Pride Park.

Stephen Ireland

Derby might be looking for some midfield reinforcements and talented play maker Stephen Ireland is likely to be available on a free.

If the Rams can snap up the Republic of Ireland international, they have a very good player on their hands.

The 30-year-old is likely to control games in the Championship and would be a no brainer on a free transfer.
