Derby County are set for a summer overhaul as Gary Rowett aims to put his personal stamp on this side.

For the past few years, Derby County have had talented individuals but for some reason it has never quite clicked.

Rowett will be keen to use the rest of this season to run the rule over the entirety of his squad before deciding whether or not to strengthen in certain areas.

One position that he will probably feel needs strengthening is in the right back department.

Cyrus Christie is normally deployed there but he has been absent for large periods of this season with a persistent ankle problem and the prognosis suggests that it could become a recurring issue.

This ankle injury has led to a downturn in the Republic of Ireland international's showings at right back.

Chris Baird deputises when Christie is injured but he has not set the world alight and his contract is set to expire in the summer.

Here are 2 right backs that Derby could target in the summer to fix this problem position.

Callum Paterson

Hearts defender Callum Paterson is heralded as one of the most promising young Scottish talents around.

Despite only being 22, Paterson has played over 150 times for Hearts and has 5 senior caps for Scotland.

The talented young defender is likely to be in high demand this summer, even though he is midway through his recovery from a long term serious injury.

Sam Byram

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has used Sam Byram cautiously and sparingly, perhaps suggesting that he doesn't trust the former Leeds defender.

However, the 23-year-old has shown glimpses of his ability at right back in the few games he has played.

If West Ham do choose to get rid of Byram in the summer, Derby should be desperately trying to land the talented right back who already has over 150 senior appearances under his belt.
