Derby will look to seal a permanent deal for on loan Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount in the summer transfer window, if they win promotion to the Premier League.

Mount has been a key part of The Rams' side when fit this season, making 27 appearances and scoring five goals in the Championship under the management of Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, with the club now sitting just one point off the play-offs with a game in hand on some of the sides above them.

The Daily Mail claim that Mount's form means that The Rams are keen to keep him at Pride Park beyond the end of the season, should they reach the play-offs and be successful in securing a return to the Premier League, although they could face competition for his signature from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

The 20-year-old midfielder has never made an appearance in the Premier League appearance, though he did enjoy a successful campaign in the Dutch top flight on loan with Vitesse Arnhem last season.

The verdict

Mount has been one of Derby's stand out stars this season, so it makes sense that they will do all they can to bring him back to Pride Park, irrespective of his lack of top-flight experience.

There can be no doubt the midfielder is ready for and needs top flight experience, so promotion will be key to The Rams hopes of keeping the 20-year-old, particularly with other clubs circling.
