Derby set to compete with Championship rival in battle to sign prolific striker

Millwall striker Lee Gregory is on the radar of Championship duo Barnsley and Derby County, reports the Daily Mail.

Both Barnsley and Derby County look set to spend next season in the second tier after their respective play-off challenges have fallen flat in recent weeks.

Now the pair look set to compete for Millwall forward Lee Gregory in the summer to bolster their attacking options.

Gregory has struck 15 league goals for Millwall this season and the Lions are just outside the play-off zone in League One.

If Neil Harris’ side fail to win promotion, top striker Gregory could jump ship to return to the Championship.

The 28-year-old is on the radar of Barnsley, who will need to replace Adam Armstrong at the end of the season with the talented England youth international due to return to parent club Newcastle.

Derby, on the other hand, will look to boost their options with current strikers Dave Nugent, Matej Vydra and Darren Bent all struggling at times this year.

Derby and Barnsley fans – would you take Gregory? What would he add to your squad? Let us know in the comments below…
