Derby County will be looking to underline their play-off credentials this weekend as they take on top six rivals Aston Villa at Pride Park.

The men from Derbyshire have had a decent campaign so far and are looking as though they have the ability to kick on and get themselves in a very strong position.

A win over Villa would certainly be ideal, then, and whilst we wait to see what happens, there, it seems as though the Tom Lawrence injury isn't as bad as first feared.

The winger went off during the Rams' game with Burton Albion last weekend with a foot injury but it seems as though he is only going to be out for weeks instead of months.

Indeed, as quoted by Derby's official website, Rowett said:

“Tom’s probably just going to miss out on the game against Aston Villa this weekend.

“The medical team are hopeful that he will be available for the match against Millwall next Saturday."

Some good news for Rams fans, then, as we approach the festive period and a series of big games in a short period of time.

Indeed, they should be able to call on the winger sooner rather than later and that will boost Rowett's men as they look to stake their claim for those top six spots.
