Derby County loanee Harry Wilson is relishing a visit to The Den this Saturday to take on Millwall and admits a win there would be special.

The Rams head into this Saturday’s clash with Neil Harris’ Lions on the back of a 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Oldham Athletic.

In the league, however, Derby will be looking to bounce back from a humbling 4-1 defeat at the hands of Leeds United last weekend.

The Den is the venue for Frank Lampard’s next managerial test, and it is typically a hostile place to go for any team.

For midfielder Wilson, it is a test he is relishing and feels if you can play in front the vociferous Millwall support, you can play anywhere.

“I’ve played against Millwall, so I know what they are all about,” Wilson told the Rams’ official website.

“We will do our homework on them and concentrate on ourselves, and hopefully go there and get the result we want."

When asked if he thrives in the type of hostile atmosphere expected, Wilson continued: “I think everyone does if you can play under pressure and in a hostile environment, that’s what you play football for so if you win there, it makes it all the more special.”

Wilson has featured in all three of Derby’s fixtures this season and will be hoping to line up for his side once more this weekend.

The Verdict

Harry Wilson is right in that he has played against Millwall before, but that was a 2-1 defeat at the KCOM Stadium last season when on-loan at Hull City.

The youngster has yet to experience the welcome of a crowd at The Den, and it can be pretty intimidating to players who are alien to the experience.

Even players who have years on the Liverpool loanee struggle to perform on the Lions’ patch.

If Wilson can manage to show his talents in front of the Millwall support, he will earn their respect.

But if he crumbles, he will be yet another victim of the atmosphere created for opposition players at The Den.
