With Premier League Bournemouth reportedly in the market for a new winger having had a £20 million for Leicester man, Demarai Gray, rejected, fellow wide man Marc Pugh may find his days at the Vitality Stadium numbered.

The 30-year-old has been with the Cherries since 2010, but having made just 16 starts last season and with opportunities potentially further limited next year, Pugh could be on his way out in search of consistent first team football.

One club who should consider a swoop for the player are Derby County, who themselves are interested in increasing their wide options following the departure of Tom Ince to Huddersfield.

Boss Gary Rowett will scour the market in his attempt to find the right man for the right price, and with Pugh having just a single year remaining on his current deal, the player could be available for a relatively modest fee.

Pugh has been fantastic for the club since moving to the south coast from Hereford, and his performances helped the Cherries to multiple promotions during his time at the club.

The long journey could be over if the right offer were to materialise, and helping Derby to the Premier League should be the next step in this man’s career.

At the age of 30, Pugh needs to be playing regularly, and will wish to prolong his long career for as many years as possible.

Derby will be fighting at the top of the Championship table this season, and adding Pugh to the mix would certainly improve the options at Rowett’s disposal.

It will be an exciting year for the Rams, and if they can pull off a deal for Pugh, then they will be in a much stronger position to secure the promotion the fans so desperately crave.

How many more signings do you need to be ready for a promotion push, Derby fans?
