Curtis Davies has criticised his Derby County teammates after they continued their poor form by drawing 3-3 with Reading at the Madejski Stadium yesterday.

The Rams have now conceded seven goals in their previous three games, with the previously tight defence not offering much resistance in recent weeks.

With Cardiff City beating Bristol City today, it means Gary Rowett's men are now seven points behind the Welsh side, who occupy the final automatic place at the moment.

However, Davies told the official site that they are still aiming for the top two.

"It’s not good enough, we’ve got aspirations of automatic promotion and we need to get it right, and get it right now. There are 12 games left but the games do run out, so we need to get the points on the board as quickly as possible."

The former Hull City man is determined to help the side get back to winning ways, starting with a crunch clash against Fulham next week.

"It’s important that we get a win just to stop the rot, because it becomes a habit. We’re not losing, we’ve drawn the last couple, but we want three points."

The Verdict

You can't really argue with anything Davies says there and one win in seven games is very concerning given Derby's recent history when it comes to the final part of a season.

Worryingly, they're conceding goals frequently and that is the first thing that Rowett will have to address.

There is still a lot to play for, but the Rams had a very good chance of making the top two but it's looking like a real big ask now.
