Derby County have lodged an increased bid of £2.5m for Brentford winger Florian Jozefzoon after their first bid was rejected.

The Rams had previously offered £1.5m for the Dutch winger but the offer was turned down by the Bees who are reluctant to lose the talented 27-year old.

However, the former PSV man has just one year left on his contract at Griffin Park and could be tempted to cash in on the player now.

That's because Football Insider have revealed that Frank Lampard's side have come back in with the improved offer for Jozefzoon who impressed last season.

He played 43 games for Dean Smith's side in all compeitions, where he can operate from either flank, weighing in with seven goals and eight assists.

However, Derby could face pressure for his signature, with Leeds United said to have been keen on bringing the player to Elland Road earlier in the window.

It remains to be seen whether the Yorkshire side will match or exceed the bid that in the coming days.

The Verdict

This would be a very good signing for Derby as they haven't really replaced Johnny Russell and are in need of a natural winger.

Jozefzoon fits the bill and if they manage to conclude a deal for around £2.5m it would be a good deal, although Leeds could make a late play for him.

As for Brentford, they won't want to sell but with a year left on his current deal, they are not in the strongest position.
