Sky Bet Championship high-flyers Derby County are interested in signing Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle on loan, according to the Sun.
The 25-year-old has made 65 appearances for the Eagles but has only scored 22 goals during his time there. He’s made just ten appearances so far this season, netting four times.
He was part of a transfer tug of war over the summer, with Premier League sides AFC Bournemouth and Norwich City launching bids for him, as well as Championship sides Bristol City and Middlesbrough.
The Robins had a £15 million offer for him accepted over the summer, but Gayle snubbed a move.
He’s now being eyed by Derby on loan, as they look to bolster their attacking options over January in order to boost their promotion hopes.
Gayle may be open to a loan switch to the Championship, as Palace boss Alan Pardew lacks an out and out striker who can be relied on for goals, and a second tier move could help to regain his confidence.
