Derby have bid rejected for impressive attacker, Bielsa’s Leeds United interested as well

Brentford have rejected a £1.5m bid from Championship rivals Derby County for winger Florian Jozefzoon.

However, the Bees face a real battle to keep hold of the former PSV man, with Leeds United also seriously interested in the player according to West London Sport.

The 27-year old joined the London club in January 2017 and has gone on to make 58 appearances for the side, scoring eight goals. He has impressed with his pace, dribbling ability and such performances have not gone unnoticed.

Yet, he has just one year left on his current deal at Griffin Park which will encourage those interested in signing him.

Dean Smith has had to deal with several key players leaving over the years, with Jora, Maxime Colin and Harlee Dean all departing for Birmingham City 12 months ago.

For Derby and Leeds, both are under new management this summer with Frank Lampard and Marcelo Bielsa keen on strengthening their squads ahead of the big kick-off in August, with both sides short when it comes to natural wide men.

The Verdict

Jozefzoon would be a good signing for either Leeds or Derby and his contract situation means a deal is likely.

However, you can see why the Bees have turned down that first bid from Derby as he is worth more than that in today’s market.

Ultimately though, you have to think a deal can get done and Jozefzoon would be an improvement on either side.
