Derby County manager Frank Lampard says both Craig Bryson and David Nugent are back in contention to start for Tuesday night's visit of Blackburn Rovers, report the club's official Twitter account.

Both players missed the Rams 1-0 weekend loss to Rotherham United with knocks but Lampard has revealed that both are available for selection tomorrow night.

Nugent and Bryson were both regulars in the side up until Saturday, where Martyn Waghorn played as the Rams' only striker and the returning Tom Huddlestone filled in for Bryson in midfield.

The defeat to Rotherham was the first the Rams had suffered for four games having triumphed three times in a row against Ipswich Town, Preston North End and Hull City.

Since moving from Middlesbrough in January 2017 Nugent has scored 16 goals in 62 games for the Rams and is continuing to keep summer signing Jack Marriott out of the side.

Bryson has been at the club since 2011 and has gone on to make 252 appearances, scoring 39 goals and assisting 37 more from central midfield.

The verdict

Bryson's return is the biggest piece of good news here by a long way.

Derby have more than enough firepower without Nugent, but the Rams midfield came under heavy criticism at the weekend for its lack of speed and energy with Tom Huddlestone bearing the brunt of it.
