A poll from the Derby Telegraph has revealed that Derby County fans believe that Tom Lawrence will be the best of the club’s six new signings.

Lawrence joined the Rams from Premier League outfit Leicester City in mid-August, for an initial fee of £5 million.

The winger was up against some tough competition in the poll, with Gary Rowett having brought in the likes of Sam Winnall and Andrew Wisdom this summer.

Lawrence has featured twice for Derby in the league this season but is yet to complete a full 90 minutes or even start a game in the Championship.

However, Lawrence did start, and play 81 minutes, against Grimsby Town in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

Over 1,000 Derby fans voted in the poll with the 23-year-old winning 26% of the votes.

The Verdict

It is hard to disagree with Derby’s fans on this one.

Tom Lawrence is an exciting, young talent who, given the chance, can really set the league alight with his talents.

Getting him for just £5 million from Leicester was a great piece of business by the club and once he starts getting more consistent opportunities in the first team, Lawrence can really start to shine for Derby.

He’s quick, skilful, agile, and most importantly hungry for an opportunity to highlight his abilities.
