Derby County have been rather impressive this season in what is Frank Lampard's first senior management role.

The former Chelsea midfielder has taken to the task very nicely indeed and the Rams are once again in contention for promotion this season as they head into their next game with Leeds United tonight.

He'll be looking to try and boost their chances this January window too, then, with some new signings but it seems as though Robert Huth will not be joining the club.

Indeed, after speculation on Twitter suggested that he was on his way to the Pride Park club, Huth responded in rather emphatic fashion:

A player who speaks the way he played - no-nonsense - it is clear that the German has apparently hung his boots up.

He might have been a good signing for Derby, too, given their need of a new centre-half but that now seems massively unlikely.

The Verdict

Huth has never been one to mince his words and it would appear that he has shot this rumour out of the sky with his tweet.

The German has had a distinguished career, though, and so can look back on it with plenty of pride and a few Premier League winners medals to boot.
