Derby County could be without winger Tom Lawrence for both legs of their play-off semi final with Leeds United, after it was reported that The FA will consider whether to charge the Welshman with "successful deception of a match official" following their 3-1 win over West Brom on Sunday.

That victory over West Brom sealed Derby's place in the play-offs on the final day of the season, but Lawrence's actions in winning the penalty scored by Harry Wilson to seal the win have now come under scrutiny.

After producing an unstoppable solo run into The Baggies penalty area, Lawrence then went down under the challenge of Kyle Bartley, although television replays appeared to show there was minimal to no contact between the two players.

Sky Sports are now reporting that The FA will review the referee's report from the game before deciding whether to charge Lawrence.

Derby's play-off opponents Leeds will be without Patrick Bamford for the first leg of the semi-final, as he sits out the second of a two game for committing the same offence during the controversial 1-1 draw with Aston Villa just over a week ago.

So far this season Lawrence has scored six and assisted two goals in 33 Championship appearances for Frank Lampard's side.

The verdict

Given the history between these two sides this season, this was never going to be a play-off semi-final without controversy, and whichever way the decision goes, one side will feel hard done by.

If Lawrence is to be suspended, it will be a big blow for Derby. Lawrence's pace and trickery has been a problem for plenty of defences this season, and you feel it would be a major asset for the Rams up against a Leeds side beset by injuries and low on confidence following a shocking end to the season.
