A quartet of Premier League and Championship clubs have joined Derby County in the race to sign Preston North End attacker Callum Robinson, HITC Sport is reporting.

Callum Robinson joined Preston North End from Aston Villa on a permanent deal last summer and has thrived in his first season away from Villa Park.

The 22-year-old netted eleven goals from the wide areas last season and impressed with his attacking play.

These good performances have caught the eye of a number of admirers.

Derby County, who are looking to add some quality on the wing, have made the versatile forward their number one transfer target.

However, they now face competition from two Premier League sides and two Championship sides.

Bristol City and Fulham are ready to rival their Championship rivals for Callum Robinson this summer, according to sources close to HITC Sport, while Premier League duo Burnley and Crystal Palace are also keen.

Preston North End are desperate to keep their prize asset, who played the full 90 minutes in the opening game of the Championship season last weekend.

The Lilywhites face a battle to keep Robinson at the club as interest in their winger grows heavier as the transfer window enters its final few weeks.

The Verdict

Callum Robinson is a tremendous prospect and he is already one of the most exciting attacking talents in the second tier at the age of 22.

He is definitely worth an investment if you are a Championship club and Preston will undoubtedly be trying to resist all offers.

Whether Preston can hold off interest from the Premier League (and whether Derby, Fulham and Bristol City can compete) is another question.
