According to The Derby Telegraph, free agent Joe Ledley is a name that Derby County could look to sign in the near future as he continues to look for a club.

The men from Pride Park have started in fairly decent fashion this season but they certainly need to add some consistency to their results if they are to get into the top six.

Indeed, they followed up their big win over Hull with a big loss against Bristol City last time out and so you get the feeling some extra toughness and resilience is needed in the team.

For sure, then, that might suggest why the club is going after Ledley with the former Crystal Palace man a Premier League experienced star who is more than willing to get involved in a battle in the middle of the park.

Ledley is also a very experienced international and so he would likely add some extra quality to the already strong options Derby have in the middle of the park with the likes of Tom Huddlestone and Bradley Johnson about.

It remains to be seen, then, if this goes through.

The Verdict

Derby have been good and bad this season in pretty extreme circumstances. Indeed, they either waltz to victory or get battered and so they need to add some steel to their side.

Ledley, then, would be an ideal man to bring in and now we'll have to wait to see if Gary Rowett can get it done.
