Derby County duo Alex Pearce and goalscorer Tom Lawrence praised their team and hailed a 'vital win' after helping the Rams to a 1-0 success at Preston North End this afternoon.

Speaking to Sky Sports following the game, the Derby duo were clearly delighted to finally get a win on the board after what had been a terrible run of form which saw the club fall away from automatic promotion and put their playoff hopes at risk.

The Rams got the win thanks to an excellent free kick from £7m signing Lawrence, and the three points propels them right back into the thick of things in the top six, putting the Rams back in fifth and in control of their own destiny in terms of promotion.

Pearce, who played a vital role in the win, was visibly delighted with the showing, and goalscorer Lawrence was also clearly delighted to finally get on the scoresheet, and he will be hoping to use the confidence from the strike and fire the Rams into the playoffs come the end of the campaign.

Derby will be hoping luck shines on them in the 3pm kick offs as well as the evening fixture for Sheffield United, who have the chance to close the gap to Derby to just a single point if they can beat Neil Warnock's men.
