Derby County interim manager Liam Rosenior has confirmed that the club will not be signing Ryan Glover during the current transfer window.

Glover was handed a trial at Derby earlier this month and is currently on the lookout for a new team after being released by AFC Bournemouth.

During his time with the Cherries, the winger failed to make an impact for the club as he only played one senior game.

Loaned out by Bournemouth to Aldershot Town in October 2021, Glover went on to feature regularly for the National League side.

In the 27 games that he participated in at this level, the 21-year-old managed to find the back of the net on three occasions.

Following a change in ownership, Derby have managed to sign 11 players and could potentially add some more fresh faces to their squad before the window closes.

Whereas the Rams are still taking a look at Kevin McDonald and Amadou Diallo, Rosenior has revealed that the club will not be making a move for Glover.

Speaking to the Derby Telegraph about the winger, Rosenior said: "Ryan we let go.

"He showed some really great flashes of ability.

"But we have to make sure that every player is 100 per cent right for what we want.

"Unfortunately, we didn't feel that but I am sure he will be an asset for somebody somewhere."

The Verdict

When you consider that Glover has not featured in League One during his career, Derby would have been taking a risk by signing him this summer as there is no guarantee that he will be able to deliver the goods in this division.

Keeping this in mind, it is hardly a surprise that the Rams have opted against making a move for the winger.

By switching their attention back to drafting in players who have a proven track-record at this level, Derby could potentially go on to achieve a relative amount of success in the third-tier.

Providing that the Rams make a positive start to the campaign, Rosenior could potentially be appointed as the club's manager on a full-time basis.
