Derby County's takeover saga has taken centre stage within the EFL over the last few months, and whilst Chris Kirchner appeared to be steadying the ship, it remains to be seen what the immediate future holds.

The latest update in this continued uncertain situation is that Derby County fan David Clowes is set to involve himself and he could emerge as a bidder, as per a Patreon from journalist Alan Nixon.

Clowes is already involved in the process, with the property developer part of a plan to buy Pride Park back from Mel Morris - Something that has been a stumbling block through the takeover.

Derby's administrators, Quantuma, are still in search of finding a suitable buyer for the League One club, with a 15-point deduction looming if they are unable to provide current creditors with cash.

As well as Clowes, Steve Morgan and Mike Ashley remain in the race as becoming a preferred bidder for the Midlands club, whilst Chris Kirchner remains adamant that he would like to complete a deal for the takeover of the Rams, that is despite the American businessman missing a proof of funds deadline.

The admins have been working relentlessly to ensure that funds will be available so that the club can pay wages at the end of the month, with Clowes emerging as a significant player over the last few days.

Alan Nixon's report states that after backing Kirchner, Rooney is growing eager for a quick solution, as he had lined up several new deals that are currently up in the air.
