Derby County forward Mason Bennett has apologised to fans after a video emerged on his Snapchat of him shouting obscenities as he drove past Pride Park.

It has been an eventful season for the 23-year-old, who was involved in the drink driving incident back in November that saw Rams captain Richard Keogh have his contract terminated by the club.

Bennett fell out of favour following that saga and has spent the second half of the season on loan with Millwall.

The 23-year-old has found himself in trouble again this week as a video from his Snapchat, which showed Bennett driving past Pride Park and shouting obscene language went viral yesterday.

Derby have refused to comment on the incident but Bennett took to Twitter yesterday to offer an apology.

Bennett added that the situation had stemmed from a private joke with his "good friend Shinz".

The forward is a product of the Rams academy and has featured 90 times for the senior side but you feel his days at the East Midlands club could be numbered.

It is understood that Millwall have the option to make the deal permanent this summer, while both the player and Lions manager Gary Rowett have indicated it is a move they would consider.

The Verdict

Bennett has been quick to apologise, which he deserves credit for, but this is a very avoidable situation and you have to question what the 23-year-old was thinking.

It is difficult to see Bennett staying at Derby past this summer after the events that have occurred over the past season.

It will be interesting to see whether his future lies at the Den or elsewhere.
