Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is the man tasked with doing what all before him have failed to do and guide Derby County into the Premier League and in all honesty it looks like a difficult first job in management for the ex-England international.

The Rams have already expressed that they might have to trim down the wage budget this season and that could mean Lampard is forced to offload some of his prized assets before he has even overseen a single game.

The likes of Curtis Davies, Matej Vydra and Scott Carson are all set to attract interest this summer, whilst any incoming deals that Lampard pulls off are all likely to be cheap options or loan recruits.

Given that he has such an affinity with Chelsea, Lampard would be wise to raid their star-studded academy for temporary deals and one man in particular, who would represent a good signing, would be striker Tammy Abraham.

The England under-21 international has struggled for form over the last 12 months and his loan spell with Swansea City was a complete disaster to say the least, with the 21-year-old finding the net just five times.

Despite his disappointing time at the Liberty Stadium, it is clear that Abraham possesses a certain amount of quality at Championship level as he proved during a fruitful spell at Bristol City the season previous.

If Lampard can attract Abraham to the East Midlands there is nothing stopping Derby from making a genuine push for promotion, especially if he can find some of his form from his time at Ashton Gate, where he netted 23 league goals.

Derby County fans, would you welcome Abraham to Pride Park? Let us know in the comments below!!!
