Hull City will hold talks with winger Tom Ince in an attempt to persuade the player to remain at the club rather than move to Derby County, the Hull Daily Mail understands.

Derby are keen on bringing Ince back to the club

The Rams have identified the 23-year-old as an important transfer target ahead of the new season, and are reportedly willing to break their transfer record with a £5.75m bid.

Ince joined Hull last summer on a free transfer; the Tigers beating clubs such as Liverpool and Crystal Palace for the player's signature.

However, he struggled to make a mark on the first team and made only seven league appearances before a short loan with Nottingham Forest in which he played in six games.

In February he joined Derby on loan and enjoyed a successful spell, netting 11 times in 18 appearances as the club missed out on the Championship play-offs.

Now, Paul Clement is eager to bring the former Blackpool star back to the iPro Stadium as he targets automatic promotion into the Premier League.

However, Hull manager Steve Bruce is desperate not to lose Ince, as he too targets a return to the top flight.

Bruce sees the former Liverpool trainee as an important member of the squad and does not want to see the player leave the KC Stadium, especially not to a league rival.

He will meet with Ince and his representatives tomorrow (Thursday) to convince them to remain in Yorkshire.
