Derby County are potentially set to launch a bid to sign Reading FC striker Nick Blackman, subsequently dashing Sheffield Wednesday’s hopes of signing the forward.
According to Sports Journalist Alan Nixon, Derby have sounded out Blackman as a potential option, to help catapult them towards automatic promotion
There have been reports that the Owls have had a bid accepted for the in-form Royals striker, however they could be scuppered with a potential late move from Paul Clement’s Derby.
Derby have also been in the race to sign Benik Afobe from Wolves and Lewis Grabban from Norwich, but could potentially see Blackman as better value for money in the current market.
Blackman who joined the Royals from Sheffield United in 2013 has made 103 appearances and scored 18 in all competitions for Reading, but has been in blistering form this season in the Championship, behind only Ross McCormack and Andre Gray in the top scorers list.
Derby currently sit second in the Sky Bet Championship table, four points behind Middlesbrough who also have a game in hand on the Rams.
