The fierce East Midlands rivals will face competition from Premier League club Swansea City for the highly-rated Scotsman.

Fraser, 20, has been catching the eye in the Scottish Premier League with a string of fine displays for Dundee United having risen through the youth ranks at Tannadice.

Swansea boss Garry Monk is known for giving youngsters a chance in his first-team squad at the Liberty Stadium and given their Premier League status, they could have the edge on any potential transfer.

Fraser has played 10 times for United this season and scouts from Forest and Derby are thought to have been to watch the player in action ahead of January moves for the player.

Derby are looking to secure a promotion to the Premier League this season whilst Forest are being forced to shop for talent on the cheap, with the club currently under a transfer embargo.

Paul Clement's Derby County currently sit in sixth place in the Sky Bet Championship, having accumulated 20 points from 11 league games so far this season.

Meanwhile, Forest sit in 14th place after an incredibly mediocre start to the season. having won 12 points from 11 league games.
