Derby County are keen on signing Livingston's Lyndon Dykes, although they face a lot of competition from fellow Championship sides to land the forward.

The 24-year-old has been one of the outstanding performers for Gary Holt's men this season, scoring three goals in eight league games.

Undoubtedly, his finest moment came as Livi surprised champions Celtic at home, where Dykes scored the winner and bullied the Hoops defence on occasions in what was a great individual display.

And, according to TEAMtalk, the Rams are closely monitoring the player ahead of a possible January move, along with Middlesbrough, Cardiff, Swansea, Bristol City and Blackburn.

The report also claims that the Scottish side will be willing to sell Dykes, who they brought in from Queen of the South in January earlier this year.

They will be in a strong position when it comes to negotiations too, with the 24-year-old signing a contract extension with the club in September that tied him to Livi until the summer of 2022.

Dykes played the full 90 minutes as his side were beaten by Rangers prior to the international break.

The verdict

Clearly, it's going to be a battle to land the player with so many interested parties and ultimately it will come down to whoever can agree a fee with Livingston.

Whilst Dykes' scoring record in the past hasn't been too impressive, he has done well this season and his work off the ball and ability to run the channels means he always contributes to the team.

From Derby's perspective, they need to strengthen other areas before they add up top but Dykes could be a decent addition.
