Derby County want Burnley boss Sean Dyche should Steve McClaren leave the Rams for Newcastle United this summer, according to the Daily Star.
According to the Daily Star, McClaren is looking odds-on to take charge of the Magpies regardless if Derby win promotion to the Premier League.
The former England boss is highly rated by the Newcastle hierarchy and the club are prepared to pay compensation to get their man.
Dyche has emerged as the top target for Derby should McClaren leave following his efforts with Burnley since taking charge of the Clarets in October 2012.
The 43-year-old won promotion to the top flight in his first full season in charge at Turf Moor and the Lancashire club have a fighting chance of remaining in the Premier League next season.
Despite being without a win in seven, Derby still have a chance of gaining promotion to the top flight as they sit 6th in the Championship, six points behind second-place Bournemouth with six matches remaining.
