Derby County picked up their second win in quick succession as the Rams continued their ascent up the Championship after running out 3-2 winners away at Swansea City on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Martyn Waghorn, Duane Holmes and Tom Lawrence put paid to Swansea's concerted efforts to make a comeback in what was a well fought contest.

One player in particular who continues to excel for Phillip Cocu's side is 19-year-old midfielder Max Bird, with the youngster once again playing the full 90 minutes at the heart of his side's midfield against the Swans.

The player has now made seven Championship appearances this season as he continues to adapt well to playing men's football on a regular basis after graduating from the club's academy, and Bird was quick to heap praise on the club's supporters after the win when he posted the following on

Preferring to maintain possession through the use of short passes, Bird helps to give Derby stability in the centre of the pitch, thus allowing the likes of Holmes and Wayne Rooney to get up high in support of the lone striker.

With just 19 first team appearances to his name at present, Bird will be keen to continue his progression over the next few months as the Rams seek to close the gap on the play-off spots after such a slow start to the season for Cocu's men.

Meanwhile, the Pride Park outfit will be hoping to pick up another positive result on Wednesday as they take on promotion chasers Bristol City at Ashton Gate, with both sides seeking to build upon their recent strong showings in the Championship of late.
