Derby County right back Jayden Bogle is a summer transfer window target for Premier League side Brighton, Sky Sports have reported.

The 18-year-old right back has enjoyed an impressive debut season in senior football at Pride Park, making 50 appearances and scoring twice in all competitions for The Rams this season, playing a big role in Derby's promotion push, which ultimately ended with Monday's play-off final defat to Aston Villa.

Having finished 17th to narrowly avoid relegation from the Premier League this season, Brighton will need to strengthen to avoid a similar battle next season, and Sky claim that Bogle's status as a young, homegrown talent makes him an attractive prospect for the South Coast side, although there is some concern about his lack of experience.

The report also claims that The Seagulls are interested in Portsmouth centre back Matt Clarke, who also played a big role in his side's League One promotion campaign - which also ended in play-off defeat - this season.

Clarke has made a total 175 appearances in four years with Portsmouth, and at 22, also fits in to Brighton's reported criteria for signings.

The Verdict

These could be two good signings for Brighton.

Both players have shown an immense amount of promise this season, and Bogle in particular has a long and promising career ahead of him.

It may be a risk to use a player with so little experience, but you feel Bogle would only improve as he experiences more of the Premier League.
