Derby County's takeover is 'very close' to be completed, according to the Derbyshire Telegraph.

The Rams revealed last month that a deal had been agreed in principle for Derventio Holdings Limited to become the controlling stakeholder of the Championship club.

The consortium, who are led by Abu Dhabi royal family member Sheikh Khaled, promise to make Derby one of the richest clubs in England if a deal is finalised.

According to reports, that deal could be announced imminently with the reasons for the delay detailed.

The Derbyshire Telegraph wrote: "Completion of the takeover remains "very close", and interim manager Wayne Rooney has said this at his last three press conferences.

"Slight delay this week is due to it being Commemoration Day (December 1) and National Day (public holidays) in the UAE yesterday (December 2) and today (December 3)."

The Verdict

Supporters are waiting with bated breath for this to be announced.

With Derby County struggling in the Championship it seems that the club needs some clarity over their future sooner rather than later.

When this is announced it's hoped that a manager will be named and then the club can truly kick on.
