Derby County are still attracting interest from potential new owners despite their off-field issues.

As has been widely reported, the Rams have had a few failed takeover attempts over the past year or so, which has left the club in a very difficult position.

The financial problems mean that they look set to be hit with a points deduction, which will put them in a very difficult position as they look to avoid relegation to League One.

For many fans, the only way the situation can be rectified is if fresh investment arrives into the club, although they obviously need someone with the right intentions to put the cash up.

And, even though they have problems, Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has revealed that owner Mel Morris is aware that there is still interest in the club.

"Despite two failed takeover attempts, current owner Mel Morris still has a number of interested parties, I'm told. But the EFL dispute has caused a major stumbling block. And Derby are still losing around £1m a month, which Morris is funding."

The verdict

Derby fans will not be getting carried away by any takeover talk considering how things have played out in the past, but it's good to see that there is still interest in the club.

Of course, the issues with the EFL means that nobody is going to want to get involved now, which Dorsett touches upon. So, fans will hope that a resolution can be reached with them, which can be the first step to clearing things up.

Then, Morris needs to find a buyer but as we've seen previously, it's going to be complicated, as has often seemed the case with Derby.
