Steve McClaren has already added Leeds United's Steven Warnock and Eibar centre back Raul Albentosa for a fee of around £600,000 and are keen now chasing Hamilton's Jesus Garcia Tena.

He arrived from Livingston in 2013 and has made 32 appearances for Hamilton, who have been a real surprise in the Scottish Premiership this season. They're currently fifth in the table.

It's been another busy January for Derby, who have bought in Darrent Bent on loan from Aston Villa, Stephen Warnock and Raul Albentosa.

They're also keen to replace Jordan Ibe, who was recalled from his loan by parent club Liverpool.

Derby's last game in the Championship was against arch rivals Nottingham Forest. They fell to a 2-1 defeat, despite taking the lead through a Henri Lansbury own goal.

Two goals in 15 minutes from Britt Assombalonga and Ben Osborn sealed a win for the away side.

Derby boss Steve McClaren said after the game: "I can't fault the first-half performance. We were focused, played when we had to, dominated and restricted them to set-plays. They were playing opportune football.

"We didn't deserve to lose. I think a draw would have been about right. Everybody would have gone away satisfied with a draw. When they equalised, I would have taken the draw.

"But we showed our inexperience at the end, thinking that with 30 seconds left we should go and try to win it. We lost all shape and got punished.

"The first half we played like us, the second half was not us."

Derby have now dropped to fourth in the Sky Bet Championship and are only three points off the top.
