Brentford have rejected Derby County’s £1.5m bid to sign Florian Jozefzoon, which falls under the Bees’ valuation of the player.

According to Sky Sports, Brentford have rejected a £1.5m bid from Derby, who are keen to add the winger to Frank Lampard’s squad ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

The 27-year-old has been at Brentford for 18 months now, after the Bees swooped to sign the winger from PSV Eindhoven in January 2017.

During his time at Griffin Park, Jozefzoon has made 62 appearances across all competitions, returning eight goals for the Bees.

Last season, the winger made 43 appearances across all competitions, including 39 in the Sky Bet Championship.

From those 39 league appearances, Jozefzoon returned seven goals and a further seven assists, proving to be influential as Dean Smith’s side once again challenged for the play-offs.

The 27-year-old’s deal runs until the end of the 2018/19 campaign, which has attracted interest this summer.

Derby face stiff competition in the race to sign Jozefzoon this summer, with Leeds United, their Championship rivals, also credited with an interest by Sky Sports.

The Verdict

It remains to be seen if Derby go back in with an improved bid for Jozefzoon.

The winger is a talent, who would improve most in the Championship, particularly Derby and Leeds.

Despite the winger entering the final year of his contract, it is hard to imagine Brentford will sell on the cheap, particularly to a direct rival in the Championship.
