Derby County need a big summer under Gary Rowett if they're going to challenge for the Premier League, after a disappointing season in the Championship.

Rowett was brought in to the replace the sacked Steve McClaren. He's renowned for being a top manager at this level after turning Birmingham City from relegation candidates to promotion hopefuls.

He is tasked with overhauling this Derby squad, one that has consistently found it hard to properly challenge for the top flight, despite many, many attempts.

They've already brought in Hull City defender Curtis Davies and should make their next signing Celtic star Leigh Griffiths.

Despite playing second fiddle to French striker Moussa Dembele at Celtic Park this season, Griffiths has still managed 18 goals in all competitions this year.

Having lost his starting berth to Moussa Dembele, he may attempt to force a move this summer as he has numerous suitors ready to pick him up.

West Brom and Newcastle have both been touted as potential options, though the Rams would surely be able to offer more in the way of first-team football.

Derby should be one of those looking to bring him, as his goal record in Scotland shows he can be a formidable Championship striker. He has a fabulous strike on him and is a versatile centre forward.

Able to either lead the line, or work off another central attacker, the former Hibs and Wolves ace would be a wonderful addition.

The Rams need to add more up front this summer as Darren Bent has flattered to deceive this year, leaving just Chris Martin up top.

Griffiths could be the answer to their prayers, and given the extensive financial power at the club's disposal, this deal could be completed.
