Derby County disappointed fans last season with a largely uninspiring mid-table finish having spent heavily the previous summer, but with Gary Rowett now at the helm, there is renewed optimism around Pride Park.

Rowett will enter his first transfer window with the club this summer with the intention of making his own mark on the squad, and several new faces are expected in the city this summer.

Rumours have emerged suggesting that top scorer Tom Ince may be subject to Premier League interest, and if Ince does depart for the top flight then his goals will need to be replaced.

Ten goal striker Darren Bent recently signed a new deal so will be at Pride Park next season, but another goalscorer will be key to a Derby promotion push.

Having signed Ashley Fletcher on a free transfer last summer, West Ham started the forward on only two occasions last season in the Premier League, and may feel a Championship loan deal would allow the player to develop and flourish into a future first-team regular.

Fletcher is a natural goalscorer and is exactly what Derby need next season, with the youngster also able to act as the focal point of an attack.

The former Manchester United youngster excelled in the youth set up at Old Trafford, and at 21, needs to be playing regular football to continue his growth.

Derby boast a very talented squad, and securing a starting role in such a team would allow Fletcher to rediscover his youth team form, and the striker would add a new dimension and goals to the Derby attack.

If Rowett can convince West Ham to part with Fletcher for a year and get the youngster firing, then Derby look certain to achieve a top six finish next season.
