With the January transfer window fast approaching, it is likely that managers up and down the country are already putting together their shortlist of players they'd like to join forces with.

At Derby County, Steve McClaren has recently taken over so he may be looking to put his imprint on the side and bring in his own set of players.

Also, with the Rams underachieving so far this season they may need to bring some new players into the side to ignite their promotion push.

An option for McClaren could be to dip into the Premier League and recruit some talent from the top flight whether it be on loan or permanently.

One side which could be utilised by McClaren is Arsenal and over the next couple of pages, FLW writer Tom Rawcliffe will identify TWO players who Derby should look to sign from the Gunners...

Chuba Akpom

Derby County have struggled for goals this season with just 9 scored in the 15 games played.

To accompany that record, Derby have also been scoreless in 8 games which is a stat that won't be pleasant viewing for anyone connected with the club.

The recruitment of a striker could be needed in January and one option could be Arsenal's Chuba Akpom.

Ahead of the season the objective for Derby was to gain a play-off place and Akpom is no stranger to the top end of the Championship after gaining promotion with Hull City last season.

Despite only scoring 3 league goals for the Tigers he could better suit Steve McClaren's way of playing and could get firing for the Rams.

Emiliano Martinez

Emiliano Martinez

The current goalkeeper at the iPro is Scott Carson but sections of the crowd have seriously questioned his performances so far this season and a replacement may be looked at in January.

An option for the Rams could be to go for Arsenal shot stopper Emiliano Martinez.

At 24-years of age Martinez could be looking for a spell away from The Emirates whether it be on loan or a permanent basis.

A loan move to a lower division wouldn't be anything new for the Argentinian as he has spent time out on loan four times in his career, most recently at Wolverhampton Wanderers last season.
