Derby County have shared footage of a wonderful goal scored by teenage midfielder Louie Sibley for their under-23s on social media.
The 18-year-old has made a couple of first-team appearances for Derby so far in his career – with both of them coming in the Carabao Cup this season against Scunthorpe United and Nottingham Forest.
The youngster is regarded as one of the brightest young talents at the club and will be hoping to get more opportunities in the first team at Pride Park in the future.
Sibley will have done his chances of factoring to manager Phillip Cocu’s first-team plans no harm, after scoring an impressive long-range goal for Derby’s under-23 side against Everton against last week.
The midfielder received the ball on the edge of the box, before making space for a shot with an impressive first touch and firing into the bottom corner, as the Rams came from behind to win 4-1 at Pride Park in the Premier League 2 Division One.
Derby have shared footage of the goal on the club’s official Instagram account.
After reaching the play-off final under Frank Lampard last season, Derby have made a bit of a slow start to their new campaign under Cocu and are currently 15th in the Championship table.
The Rams suffered a 3-0 defeat at Charlton Athletic at the weekend and will be hoping to bounce back with three points against Wigan Athletic at Pride Park on Wednesday night.
Will Derby bounce back with a win against Wigan on Wednesday?
Sibley is obviously a talented young player and he could have a big future ahead of him. The fact that he’s already made a couple of first-team appearances for Derby suggests that the club rate him very highly.
Cocu has shown that he’s prepared to give young players opportunities in the first-team, so Sibley will be determined to impress him and he’s certainly got a good chance of doing so if he continues to score goals like that.
He could be one to watch for the future at Derby and it’ll be interesting to see whether he gets anymore chances in the first team this season.
